Stemflow Infiltration Hotspots Create Soil Microsites Near Tree Stems in an Unmanaged Mixed Beech Forest

چکیده
In stemflow, rainfall is collected and channeled to a concentrated soil water input. It can constitute up 30% of incident precipitation in some ecosystems. However, the size zone influenced by stemflow unclear, statistically representative measurement (on between sites) scarce. Therefore, whether creates hotspots infiltration potential impacts on forest soils remain subject controversy. this study, we investigated areal dimension infiltrating fluxes as well effects near-stem soils. We measured throughfall, properties high-resolution statistical designs mixed plot Germany receiving moderate stemflow. From data, modeled spatial distribution net depth plot. Furthermore, examined chemical physical around tree stems test for assess impact. Results show that areas are much smaller than typically assumed strong compared throughfall. This also mirrored properties, which significantly altered near stems. Here, accelerated formation enhanced translocation processes indicate increased due high inputs. Additionally, hydraulic enable quicker Our findings attest even comparatively low fractions (of gross precipitation) generate matter inputs, impactful subsequent hydrological biogeochemical properties. Trees shape their direct environment, thereby establishing pathways preferential flow connecting canopy deeper subsurface.

Influence of ground cover on earthworm communities in an unmanaged beech forest: linear gradient studies
Micro-scale changes in earthworm communities and ground cover types were studied along five transect lines in an unmanaged beech forest (Fontainebleau forest, France). Spatial patterns were interpreted to the light of interactions between earthworm species and forest architecture, ground vegetation and quantity as well as quality of litter. The anecic Lumbricus terrestris was associated with pa...
متن کاملPlant Biodiversity under Impact of Slope Position in Managed and Unmanaged Beech Forest of Asalem-Gilan
This study was carried out in managed and unmanaged Fagus orientalis L. (beech) stands in the Asalem beech forest in order to compare the composition and diversity of plant species. Three V-shaped catena landforms were selected for each stand. Then, large quadrats, 400 m2 area, with selective method and within each of them, small quadrats, 4 m2 area, were established along each catena and slope...
متن کاملAllometric Equations of Beech (Fagus orientalis L.) Biomass in Managed and Unmanaged Stands in Safarood's Forest, Mazandaran Province
Biomass measurement is important in terms of ecological and economical evaluation of the structure and conditions of habitat and can provide an estimate for carbon sequestration in different organs of tree. In order to assess the amount of biomass in harvested and unmanaged Beech stands, two compartments (511 and 514) of Safaroodchr('39')s forest were selected. A plot of 6.25 hectare from e...
متن کاملFitting Tree Height Distributions in Natural Beech Forest Stands of Guilan (Case Study: Masal)
In this research, modeling tree height distributions of beech in natural forests of Masal that is located in Guilan province; was investigated. Inventory was carried out using systematic random sampling with network dimensions of 150×200 m and area sample plot of 0.1 ha. DBH and heights of 630 beech trees in 30 sample plots were measured. Beta, Gamma, Normal, Log-normal and Weibull prob...
متن کاملAcetate synthesis in soil from a bavarian beech forest.
Soil obtained from a beech forest formed significant amounts of acetate when incubated in a bicarbonate-buffered, mineral salt solution under anaerobic conditions at both 5 and 20 degrees C (21 and 38 g of acetate per kg [dry weight] of soil, respectively). At 20 degrees C, following an 18-day lag period, rates of 0.07 mmol of acetate synthesized per g (dry weight) of soil per day were observed...
